This elegant hand-blown glass carafe from Black+Blum has a capacity of 1.1 liters and purifies your water using the traditional Japanese Binchotan charcoal method. This results in a cleaner, purified taste. The hand blown glass has an organic form that magnifies the beauty of the water, but also makes it a delight to hold and pour from. The simple curves and generous cork stopper, make it a timeless piece that will sit well in any environment.Crafted from a beautiful combination of materials, the borosilicate glass is skilfully hand blown and the natural cork is sustainably sourced in Portugal. The silicone cover on the cork makes it easier to clean and prolongs the life of the stopper. The carafe has been designed to make sure it fits in all fridge doors, so it is not too wide or high.Binchotan charcoalIt may seem counter intuitive to purify your drinking water with a stick of charcoal, but the Japanese have been doing it for centuries. Binchotan is an active carbon made from tree branches and is renowned for its ability to soften water, add good minerals and absorb unwanted tastes and odours, such as chlorine.Fill the bottle with water and add the charcoal. Leaving it overnight is ideal, but after an hour you can actually taste the difference. If you notice that the effectiveness of the filter decreases over time, you can recharge it by boiling it for ten minutes.
